I had the euro gaffs on mine when I first got them. I didn't like them either. I replaced them with the american-style tree gaffs and it was much better.

No need to upgrade from your Bucks. Get some caddy/opsal pads and call it a day. The Buck super wraps with the steel inserts are nice, but there is nothing better than a broken in set of caddy pads. If you are gonna get the Gecko’s make sure your get the DMM version as it is a much better design, and a killer spur. Stear clear of the Euro Trash Gaff!I use the good Velcro pads on the old steel buckingham. The pads used to be $100 over 10 years ago, now I see they are $150 a pair. Don’t know if they improved or not. If I work on spikes all day it feels fine. If I wear them on short boots my legs are very uncomfortable and I don’t think I can last more than an hour.
I’m planning to upgrade to the Gecko aluminum “euro” this year.
