Need some advice on a trolley system

I was thinking about buying a 300’ hank of 5/8 stable braid for the span. You have any better rope ideas?
I guess a true 5/8 static would be ideal but what are you gonna do with it afterward?
We had a spool of 9/16 dynasorb so that's what we used. Less than ideal but it's what we had and we made it work

Well, turns out that other company spent a couple hours in this guy’s driveway trying to set up with their Grove crane and couldn’t. Damaged the driveway and bailed. Now I am presented with this problem again. I have a plan and will keep you guys in touch.

All the wood is on the other side of a stream. Can’t get anything in to lift it.

My mini-ramps would bridge right over, I'd think. 10' long. 10k per axle.

Remember Picket anchors. Build a cart with big swivel casters maybe, use some winches with manual or powered control lines.

The ground doesn't get tired, doesn't break, doesn't get overly complicated.

Honda winch

Simpson CS-powered capstan.

Mill some in place to useable sized that can be resawn with a bandsaw.

No it wouldn’t. The pic doesn’t do the side slant justice. I have a gehl 540 and it would flip just going down the hill with no load

Clinometer apps sometimes help in these scenarios. Numbers, ya know. ;)

What about a rental Toro Dingo, or similar?

You have lots of pulling power if you have a machine. Lots of redirects and a cart.

You can make ramps if you have a mill. 500 pounds would be easy to support across it, especially with supports underneath (cut wood to fit span between streambed and underside of ramp).

Couple straight wood poles from a removal could be lashed together for a makeshift skidding bridge, with a bit of plywood on top, starting on the bank, ending on the bank, 'shingled' the right direction, so wood will flow like water.

Buy a dyneema or similar rope.

So today was D-day. Went pretty well actually. I underestimated how much wood was down there. I figured on around 14k but it’s more likely around 18k. I put 360’ of 5/8 stable braid in the tree at the top of the landing through a block and it went over a high crotch base tied to the tree at the bottom of the hill. Pulled the sag out to each piece and attached the wood to a block with a junk 9/16 hank.

I used a Milwaukee super hawg on the grcs to pull the slack out and lift the pieces and had a separate line run to a portable winch to pull the pieces up the hill.

We have about a couple hours left tomorrow to finish up.

Simple is what works. Thanks for having a GRCS.....have tools will fly. Great job using simple physics. Smarts can beat brawn anytime.

Cool that it worked out so well. Do you only have the gehl? No mini? Reason I ask is out sk650 will go on slopes to the point of me not being comfortable to walk on them. It has a low cg. I've done similar stuff that one wouldn't think it would be able to do. No way I would take my tractor on that kinda stuff. Its probably about like the gehl for tipping.

If I didn’t tip over with my ditch witch or gehl I would have ripped up the turf on the third pass.
