Naked Technora eye on Prussik cord

I've got some left over Jacketed technora line I've been considering making into hip prussics.

What I'm wondering is whether it is critical that I use the cover as in a standard splice to protect the eye or can I go with a naked eye.

The reason I am leaning towards the naked eye is that a locking brummel can be used. I prefer that splice above all other, if for no other reason the added safety of the locking part further helping to prevent low load pull out.

Any thoughts from you other self-splicers?

ThanX!

The premanufactured cords with spliced eyes, you see sold at the arborist supply houses, come unjacketed at the eyes. They do dip the ends in some special sauce to improve snag resistance.
Me, I just tie knots.

whip it to protect the eyes, i need to get some.

i've been thinking of using a mobius brummell to lock the core and still have the eye covered.

just a thought

No no no no no. Whip-it, the 'whipping' dip stuff made by Scotchbrite.

I'm sure you could whip the eye though.
