My way of trying a running bowline.

I have been told that the way I tie a running bowline is actually a 'dutch' bowline. Also called 'cowboy'. It was the way I was taught years ago.
I worked with a guy that hated me for it. I have never had a problem (with the knot...)

I have never tied one that way, running or not. I was taught to make the loop the tail goes in as a motion, not a separate action. I always take the tail on top of my pointer finger, and set the other part of the line on top of my other pointer finger. I touch my two pointers together, and then with a flip and a flick of my thumb form the loop and push the tail through that loop in one fluid motion.

The linesman I was taught by said this way it can be tied while climbing, reaching around the backside of a pole, at night while its raining, and it will always be right. In other words, it can be tied with your eyes closed every time just by feel.

I searched You Tube for what I'm talking about and couldn't find it.

Bull, I remember you telling me about this way last year. Those linesmen were taught by old timers who really knew their knots for sure.

Sounds like a great way.
