My Sunday Afternoon

The ball on my old crane was 85#. When I was tied above the ball the line was not plumb. This was a concern to me but on that crane I could not lock it shut so I thought it was better to be above it. I know the way BB uses their crane I would have no problem since they dont open the system up.

I got one of these from the city of Champaign a couple weeks ago. A city worker noticed the homeowner was in trouble & appeared to Drunk! He was ordered to stop. When i got there this is what i saw!

The notch was dirty &amp; All the weight was toward the house. When i walked up to the tree the drunk threatened to "blow my head off" I explained i was just trying to help and the city had called &amp; was going to pay for his mistake. The city called the police to subdue him (I don't often use the word Idiot, but that was the least of words used on this guy!)

By the time they got him settled down ,it started raining. I set up &amp; quickly plucked the tree out by myself w/o clean up.

Good job Mike! I am hoping that you were well compensated for that job, especially with the homeowner verbally jabbing you.

And yes he is an idiot!

I'm just curious BB, In this picture its hard to see your climbing setup, what type of a hitch are you using? It doesn't look like your using a pulley. You can PM me as to not derail your thread.

Its amazing to see what homeowners think they can do when it comes to tree. Great work, BB

I am using a Michoacan, with no pulley. The Michoacan is somewhat self tending, and the chances of me having to pull myslef up any on a single spar descent while doing crane work are slim.

Not to be a wise guy or anything, cause I'm just looking at pictures, but it looks like a throw line, a pull line, and a fiddle block set-up would of worked too? Just asking.

The area was too narrow to drop the tree, thats why he had his cut so high. Even where his cut was, it would have crushed a timber retaining wall.
