My slick homemade hook mag bag. Oh yeah, and I die.

Here is my design for a mag bag to go with my DMM Captain climbing hook. It has some cool features and I am anxious to spend some time testing it over the next few weeks to see if it works as well outside my brain as it does inside.

I am also one step closer to completing my evil plan of faking my own demise, collecting the insurance, and then rejoining my family as a wealthy but similar looking stranger. Enjoy!

Great video and a well thought out design on the bag @FreeFallin. You hinted at the material you used for the body of the bag. Is it Cordura? 4 slap bracelets for the tongue?

600 denier polyester vinyl back emboss style fabric.

  • 75% PVC , 25% Polyester
  • Width : 58" Wide
Feels really solid like an old school hiking backpack, does not tear.

Yes, I sewed a simple sleeve out of a heavy red ripstop nylon, then cut 2 slap bracelets in half and put all 4 layers in the sleeve. It has to be a little loose to let them slide as they curl. Might use 6 layers if I do it again for holding strength.

Salt bag impact, genius, perfect crunchy sound! Bag is cool! I keep my Hook setup light as possible so I don't do a lanyad (I'm from Boston) on the other end. However... as I recall from some climbing I've done on big PNW trees, a typical 15-20 foot lanyard doesn't do it. Your rig would be excellent as the lanyard set up for giant trees. I think Bob Bob has nailed it on the best Hook rope choice, PMI EZ-Bend 10mm, packs small in the bag, stronger and more durable than the DMM stock 10mm Reep Schnur.

Thanks man, the salt gave me the crunch but I needed a good THUD with it so I added a bass drum thump on top (the science of painful sound ).

I will have to pick up some EZ-Bend to play with, maybe I could deal with 10mm.
