My Silky Collection

I'm just the opposite. I do have a Stihl 192, but only use it for large cuts when they are absolutely necessary. I hate making cuts that are greater than 3" in diameter.
The stihl 020 and 261 are only what are used to climb once the branches are all cut and removed and we are dealing with a large statue we use either a stihl 044, 461, or 660 with a 3 foot bar we actually have 2 of the 660 one has the 3 foot bar the other has a 2 foot bar. I live in Massachusetts and the trees here don't get terribly big

Only a sugoi can be shapened...not sure but some polesaws can too...one they are hardened no...a feather file won't work on them....
Instead of wasting an incredible amount of time on sharpening a hand (99% of the time it comes out like shit) just buy a replacement blade. U will not spend more than roughly $75 on some of the larger blades $30-$45 on smaller ones like the zubat 330. If u look at all my saws u will see little wear and tear and that is because every time I use them I wash them at the end of the day with a sponge and liquid hand soap. It will seriously prolong the life of ur blades!

Agreed about washing which should be done especially when dealing with diseased trees...to avoid pathogen transfer....a lot of trees have corrosive properties which degrade most saw blades easily...palms are notorious for this...fucking shitty things they are.....and Fall Risk I forgot about the Ibuki which can also be sharpened, owned one once but was a pain to use and carry, could not clear chips in a kerf for shit....only good for bigger cuts which a chainsaw was better for anyway...think it had set teeth too...meaning they were not in a straight line ( could be wrong about this it was while back ).....this is an interesting thread as I have had many silky's and know why I have narrowed it to the zubat 330 and prosenti...they just work for the type of tropical hardwoods I cut.....

Zubat 330 is mine also. I like the Stihl one I just got but I don't know who actually makes the blade.
Some knucklehead in China probably.....before I found silky I bought stihl handsaws ...which was nice for a very short period but would dull very very quick....handles sucked too..plastic shite....the zubat and prosenti fits sooo nice in the hand...

I really like this post because the handsaw and polesaw ( not as much for me as I don't do many ornamrntals ) are very important in arb work....everyone will have their preference depending on what the majority of their work is...

my other primary finish saw for the smaller cuts

Why not a hand pruner, lopper, or pole pruner for such small cuts ?
These seen to make an even smoother cut.

However, if trying to make a cut outside the capacity of the pruner, the anvil can cause small amount of damage to the bark.

I wish u could just simply feel a piece of wood cut by my pocket boy 130 very fine teeth and my gunfighter 270. It's so unbelievably smooth! It feels as if it's been sanded down. It's the technology used by silky the way the teeth are, hand saws use the point of the tooth and friction to literally rip the wood. The teeth on silky's look like little pyramids, so when other saws rip silky's slice. It's what makes silky the world's best hand saws and so amazingly sharp.

The ONLY reason that anyone in the industry would use anything else is because of cost, and availability. U have to be a silky dealer in order to sell their products. In Massachusetts there are only 3 dealers. I know the zubat u can buy in more places. I have no idea why, I know my employer, has ARS saws in his trucks for anyone to use. We all have at least one silky of our own including him.

I employ a crew of 4 guys and on my jobs I won't even allow another brand of hand saw to be used on ANYTHING! At the same time I purchased a silky for everyone of my guys. I give them the option of Sugoi 420, Ibuki 390, or Sugowaza 420. Primarily because they are the 3 best what I call wrecking saws. Zubat 330 next in line but it's too small. The other 3 are basically hand chainsaws!

the newest addition to my collection! The zubat 390mm! On sale on Amazon for $65 I bought 3 for the guys at work too. I took some of the different colored bolts off different saws so that we can distinguish who's is who's! I'm surprised they actually mix and match no problem from my Gomtaro and my Ibuki. I rock the silver bolts, another guy has red and another black it works out well!
