My Butterfly2 setup

I really like this configuration on the B2. I switched from a Versatile and didn't think I would like the lack of stationary clip in points on the Butterfly, but this "system" really works for me. Its nice and clean/simple, works great with the sliding bridge, and still allows the user to utilize the advantages of a semi-stationary setup.

Anyways, I had never seen it shown elsewhere and thought I'd share it.

And it leaves room on the included alum ring for another biner for rigging a line to a second crotch. Very nice. I'm going to give it a try.

see Cory,
only eight post and you've already helped people out...
I encourage you to share more with the Buzz. We need more positive KY/Louisville representation /forum/images/graemlins/avid.gif

An excellent set up I think!... I use a very similar setup to that, only instead of clipping into the steal ring on the bridge, I've replaced that with a Petzel swivel. Same idea, only with the added advantage of the swivel for turing around and untagling your climbing line. Good stuff.

Say, is that the Dragonfly rope by New England?

Have you tried clipping the tied end of your rope, w/gold biner, directly to your bridge? Or...getting a rope snap and but it on for that end of your rope?

Yes I've tried that, but don't really like how the two biners/snaps smack together. This setup moves smoothly as a total unit, and the 4" webbing strap eliminates metal to metal contact.

Yes, Ian, it is Dradonfly, but used here only as an illustration. I've thought about replacing the ring with a swivel, but haven't tried it yet. Are there any drawbacks to the swivel?

I like how the whole system stays upright while you're pulling slack, although I think that biner is a little overcrowded - I suppose the gate side is only feeling half your weight at any given time and what is that a 30kn biner? I'm sure we've had THAT discussion before but I can't remember where.

Which makes the swivel a pain in the arse because it tangles the climbing line in the same way - The prusik minding pulley always wants to side load with a swivel, if its set up as in the photo attachment above. Petzl make a swivel with two triangles each end now, but the triangles make clipping two krabs a bit 'clunky', and don't allow three, which is one of the reasons for this thread, I think (clipping three krabs). /forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The orange Pear shaped Kong biner is 22kN I think. The knots on the hitch cord are a bit bulky, but they actually help keep the rope seperated a bit.

I saw this pulley at Minneapolis trade show and couldn't resist. Sometimes the hitch will catch on the climbing line eye splice, but (as Raven said) I like the way the setup stays in line when pulling slack through.

"Sometimes the hitch will catch on the climbing line eye splice"

Therein lies the problem.

I got one there too, they were supposedly only taking orders but when I asked about the Mickey Mouse I got one on the spot. Been too busy to fine tune it though so now it's on the bottom of my gearbag. Gotta find the right cord/hitch/rope combo. I had the most success (low & slow of course) with a screw link in place of the biner on the working end.

The same thing happens occasionally to me as well while using this pulley. I think with a little tuning of hitch cord length, and finding the right size carabiner it shouldn't be a problem. I really like this setup a lot.
