mulching individual roots??

I got a call to look at a "root" problem...the roots were surfacing
out from the drip line...Ya'll seen it the lone root out
there just begging to be buzzed down by johnny mower..
have any of you ever mulched individual exposed roots...is this
common/acceptable practice???she was not wild about extending the
existing mulch ...& was older and liked the idea of kinda a visual aid.
I appreciate any knowledge..ideas...criticism...for I am a green-horn
oooh she wants to just grind out the roots which I against...thanks

Sounds like you're on the right track. No sense cutting them. What is the soil like immediately beneath the roots? Could you dig a small trench and inset the root into the trench and put a bit of fill or mulch over that? Maybe you could put some large staple-like objects (bent metal) to hold it in the ground.

My guess is that anything you do will not work in the long run.

Any guess why it came up in the first place?

Can you get us a picture or two?

love

Sod....but you could def.. dig a small trench for fill..
Tree should come out but the old lady likes the shade .Most guys
round my area..smalltown......would've wacked em...but she called
us and I figure give her some options rather than bing..boom....
I like the "staple" idea....I can hardly type...but I just got
the computer...so I'm not up to speed with the pics yet..I'm
thinkin' the tree just kinda ended up in a sub-divsion..so im
unclear on history..thanks for the feed bac /forum/images/graemlins/applaudit.gifk!!!
