MTCC WOMEN CLIMBER EXHIBITION INVITATION

MTCC WOMEN CLIMBER EXHIBITION INVITATION

This is an invitation from the Michigan Tree Climbing Championship to all Women Tree Climbers!

We are hosting a Womens' Tree Climbing Exhibition event during the MTCC. It does not matter what ISA Chapter you belong to, you are all welcome to climb in this exhibition!
There will be a first place prize for the contestant of this event.

The women from Michigan will compete for the MTCC Title - all other women from the other chapters will compete for the first place in the the MTCC Womens' Climbing Exhibition!

Traditionally, Michigan does not have many women climbers. Please accept this invitation so that our women climbers here in Michigan can develop a mentoring base and climb with other experienced women in the field!

As the first woman chair of the MTCC, I am asking that you please accept this invitation. Also are there any other women out there that would be able to volunteer their time as judges/volunteers for the MTCC. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much,

Dawn Thierbach
MTCC Chair for 2010

I really don't get this.... can someone explain it to me???? Where ARE all the women of the trees??? I thought that you were there??? We have a woman chair. Probably the first ever!! I thought that the women of the trees were made of "real stuff'.

I had a daughter that wrestled varsity, she was NOT big and bulky (petite and pretty)- she wrestled guys! She did not get any favors.... That was not a sport that was typically for women. Tree climbing typically is not either.

Now Michigan is opening a special climb to invite other women in to compete... something many chapters do NOT do... Why isn't there ONE response yet?????????????????

Hope that it's not going to be "stero-typical"

I think this is a great idea. I just dont think there are a whole lot of women climbers out there. By doing things like this, that will change. Regardless of how many show up the first year, we got time. Although, I just read an article about how women are taking over everything. they are now more than 50% of the workforce, by far the majority getting degrees, graduating highschool, etc... Maybe we shouldn't let them into tree climbing either!!!
