Moving a tree

Absolutely Awesome!! They need to be recognized. When did this occur? What is the condition of the tree today?

Truly awesome. I had to think...you could probably be climbing the thing while they were moving it. Talk about a root ball! Tough to imagine all the support necessary to hold it all together.

Were the cranes lifting from the ball, the structure, or both?

Good question. They had to lift it to get the planks and i beams underneath so it must have been with slings from the trunk. Imo that would have been the riskiest part.

Note the hollow pipes full of dirt beneath the root ball. They are driven through the dirt beneath the root ball, and then used to lift the tree without ever needing to touch the trunk wood structure.
