Most unusual rig/coolest rig you have ever done?

I live in Goderich Ontario, and beinga town that got smoked with an F3 tornado last year, our crew had to do some fancy/unusual stuff to get out of some situations.
That got me to thinking, technically I am still a greenhorn, going on my third year climbing. You guys must have some stories/pics that would blow people out of the water.

Mine, we had to balance out the butt of this limb that fell on the client's house right after the tornado, and we had no tie in points to do so; but we are able to rig off of the elbow of our bucket truck. So I walked out onto the butt of the log, like a diving board, spider legged the 800 lbs or so butt, and we then used a porta wrap and tag line(with 2 guys on it) to lower the log.

I'll post a pic, I put it in the company calendar this year.

So what is your most memorable rig you have done?

To top it off, the Ministry pulled up and watched me make the cuts, he was cool enough to shake my hand after and say good job.
I was always trained to fear them, but really they are cool guys when you have your stuff in order.

Glad it worked for you. I've never seen that particular set up before. I'm pretty sure the manufacturer did not intend the bucket to be used in that manner. You might want to re-check the manual. Stay safe.

It is rated at the elbow, it's within safe limits. It's not a normal bucket truck, as long as we only use the elbow.
Ministry of labor didn't have a problem with it either.
It's not like were lifting with the bucket, haha.

Just curious, what kind of truck is that? I really like it.

I should have said "not usually intended to lift anything but personnel." I used to have a Holan with a winch at the knuckle, it was rated for 1500#.

i used to run an altec am90 that was rated for 2000lbs at the knuckle...we used it to remove the top off our chip truck a few times but never any wood. it seems like you are well versed in your machines capabilities just make sure to stay well within your limits and remember that someones life is depending on the integrity of that boom.

It's an altec with a shortened boom, so it can hold more than the average. Still haven't got the exact specs though. (waiting on a call there)
How we did it was I put a steel biener through the eye in the elbow, and just used that as a crotch, and lowered with the porta-wrap.

Considering what our options were for the situation, there really wasn't much else we could do, unless we rented a crane.

Enough about cutting up our job though, I want to see some of your cool rigs guys.

Here is mine. A honey bee hive in a larger big leaf maple union flare. There wasn't much to get a hold on with the rigging we had so I drove lag bolts in to prevent the ropes from slipping.

What about hanging the POW from the elbow?
