Picture this scenario, you spill some gas on yourself, there's a spark and now you're on fire.

Cotton underwear will burn, a little singed flesh by the time you stop, drop, and roll. Unlike synthetics cotton isn't petroleum based. Once the initial gas burns off cotton will smolder. Especially if it's wet from sweat.

Synthetics melt. If you're wearing synthetic underwear you get to have it peeled off of you in an emergency room. Along with a bunch of your skin. Then there's the resulting infections, since you're missing some skin.

Both scenarios suck, but I think we can all agree that one sucks less than the other.

If you don't believe me ask a welder. They wear cotton for a reason.
