More things broken

I have a hard time sourcing Platinum. Wesspur has it *listed*, but the picture is wrong. I have no idea what they'll actually send me. TreeStuff doesn't offer it any longer. Where are y'all buying it?
The picture I'm seeing on the Wesspur site is correct, for 10.5 mm Platinum.

The color pattern is similar but different from my current platinum bridge, which my Treestuff receipt lists as Teufelberger Platinum 10.5mm Access Line. Check out this picture of my rope bridge:

You can Google this image, or the wesspur one, with the same search terms. Here is the wesspur one:

My saddle originally came with what looks like this, labelled Yale bandit 11.0mm:

That's the only picture of the original rope - sent via New Tribe and wessupr to me in 2015 - that I can find on the internets. Can you see why I'm switching ropes? Lack of information, conflicting information/no consensus, lots of sources...

Sorry for derail, btw, but kind of important...

Interesting. My Onyx came with the 10.5 Platinum bridge. I also have the older version of the NT Aero Hunter, which came with a Yale Bandit bridge. I think the white strands are really clean and bright in that picture, which makes it look different.

I wouldn't be too concerned about ordering from Wesspur; I've purchased Platinum from them in the past, and what I received was indeed 10.5 mm Platinum. On the other hand, TS mistakenly sent me the 11 mm Platinum when I ordered it from them.

Thanks for helping me sort this out. A Google image search for "11mm platinum teufelberger" returns similar ropes with different patterns from Teufelberger and wesspur. I have this one, Platinum Protect PES/PA, listed at 10.5mm even though I searched for 11mm:

Wesspur has this one, labelled as Teufelberger Platinum 10.5mm Rope:

Again, it's a subtly different pattern, which suggests *something* inconsistent about a life support climbing line. It looks like they make versions for offshore rig climbing, etc., so it may just be a subtle iteration. Nonetheless, my choice to make as to whether I'll accept that iteration for my rope bridge - not someone else's. If I don't understand the differences I'm not using it. Worst case, what if one is a recall?

Well, I don't know. Is Wesspur likely to not know there is a recall of life support gear from one of their suppliers? Take the bull by the horns, call Wesspur and ask them to verify what they are selling, including sending you a photo of what is currently on the reel.

Yeah, I'm not just putting it on wesspur. To clear this ticket, I'd have to call new tribe, treestuff, wesspur, and Teufelberger. Wesspur may be carrying the one true platinum.

However, the clearest signal I'm getting is that, when it comes to quality control surrounding this rope, a maximum of 1 company of the four cares (and a minimum of zero), 1 arborist (me) cares, and the rope is a rarity in arboriculture with a commensurately small knowledge base about its performance. Even if Wesspur (or any of the others in the supply chain) is the "right" entity, the rest of the cloud remains, and no one cares. Not my idea of a great rope bridge, you know? I could be the only guy with this problem, I freely admit. I just lost interest after the "this is platinum - no, wait, this is platinum - no, wait, this is platinum" show that I have personally experienced. Again, I received a New Tribe Onyx from Wesspur spec'd for platinum but actually fitted with what appeared to be Yale Bandit. I discovered the discrepancy when I ordered Platinum from TreeStuff and received rope matching the Platinum Protect PES/PA listed on the Teufelberger website. When I went to re-order it, TreeStuff no longer carried it. Wesspur was the only stateside tree supplier I could find who still listed it, and their version has a different pattern than the one I received from TreeStuff. It's all listed as 10.5mm. Yes, I could go investigate, but if so many people and businesses are so inattentive towards it (by either providing the wrong rope or not providing it), I don't want anything to do with it as life support.
