monster jobs

I was talking with some friends last night and they were telling me about some jobs the husband has worked on lately. I've heard about some MONSTER jobs going on around here in the not so distant past, I figured it might be interesting to hear about ones going on in other parts of the world.

What is meant by "monster" jobs?

DBH and height of one tree?
Dollar volume?
Nasty, dangerous tree?

This afternoon I talked with a buddy who told me that their trim crews just started a $60,000 trimming job. Mostly shearing and polesaw work. The climbing sounded like the smallest part of the job. But...they are down from 22 crews last summer to 16 now. Work is only out a long week. Last summer work was out a month at least.

Ok how bout for us relative newbie Climbers, What was the most difficult job you guys have had, and what made it so difficult.

Could be a good learning experience for some of us student.

Hi guys and gals. oops, and Tom, ha, Hey, all our jobs seem to be monster and we can not find enough guys to work. We are backlogged into the next two or three months. We had alot of rain in Jan. and Feb. We just did 640 palms in 6 days. I love San Diego!
Jeff, the Recruiter.

O.K. , My monster job was in Lake Arrowhead, Ca.(San Bernadino), doing the Cal. Edison bark beetle project over massive high voltage, properties, etc,,, and not to mention the EPA, CDF, OSHA, and Phillips and Jordan. There is still so much to do there. I am not anxious to go back, although,,,,

Well, what I meant was like...

This woman in Bedford has, or had a tree crew working at her property EVERY day for no less than a year. The company just left a truck on the property.

Pepsico, the tree company has at LEAST 2 guys working there every day, for SEVERAL years.

There was a guy a little bit north of here. A genuine billionaire. I knew somebody who worked a few days on the property. They had 200 people working on the gardens and trees there EVERY day for SEVERAL years. Rumor had it that he was spending $1,000,000 / day and that it was the interest that he earned on his bank accounts. I believe he has since passed away.

Somebody I know was working at another billionaire's house for over a year. The guy put in a riding ring for his kid, he picked this one spot on the property, and instead of working with the topography, he just had them remove 10,000 yards of material in order to make the ground level. The same guy will put down sod one day, and rip it up the next to put in 50+ foot tall trees. Work has been going on there for 4 years now, rumor has it that he has been dropping $10,000,000 / year into that one house.

Jobs where it took a LONG time, LARGE bills, LOTS of effort, something not just anybody would / could do.
