I first connected with Brad Snelling for my 201T mod saw. Roger Barnett posted a link to the Arboristsite discussion.

I asked Snelling to mod the 359 I have sitting around...
Referred me to Mastermind aka Randy Evens in Tennessee.

Our crew uses the 200t - then goes to a 440 or 372. Nothing in between. Two 395's with 36" bar for the big cuts.

I have decided that a mid range saw may be good for much of the spar work, save my back a little.
So - I have a Husqvarna 359 sitting around. Was given to me by a family friend that used it once for storm damage at his house. Nobody on our crew likes it. I think with a nice woods port, it will become popular. It looks like it takes to the modifications well. Screaming...

I've heard MM is good. I've had two woods ported 357's. The 359 apparently ends up even faster than the 357 after porting.

Of course, I'm partial to my 346 which Tree_slingr did. It is simply amazingly fast...as in 440 fast. And easily the best of all the 3 cube saws I've had ported, which number 6 or 7.

Yes, I searched the arboristsite threads about the 359. I have had the saw sitting in my shop for 2 years, not getting used. I was happy to see that it is considered to take well to modifying. Mastermind said better than a 260.
Roger talked-up his 346 before... got me thinking about my 359. Maybe we can race at the next PNW competition!

The chainsaw threads are worth browsing at ArboristSite.
Fee to woods port - $225 plus ship

Will do video of new hot saws. 359 and Snelling 201t

I have a 359 that Bob (spike60 from the AS) did some work on for me. Took off the cat muffler put on a screened air cleaner and removed the limiter caps. That saw has gone through many piles of firewood and is still pulling hard. He claims it's not one of husqvarna's better saws but I'm liking it.

You will love it. I just sold my woods ported 359. Absolutely rips!! Screamed with a 24" windsor, was almost scary with the 20" bar on it. Unless i'm chunking big wood, its midrange saws for me.

Sorry to say this but once you get your hands on the new 562 there is nothing to compare to it out there , stock or modded , the saw has a ton of torque and the autotune works great, I have got quite abit of run time on mine and not a single problem

Yes, I am with you on the new 562...
I was given this 359 so I sent it in for a woods port. Now it has enough ummph to make it usable. Nobody used it in the stock form.

Got oak but hard to keep oak the same to do a honest test in cause the wood changes , The test was against the 361 stihl which I really like, the 562 beat the 361 pretty easy so ported I ran the 562 against a stock 7900 and the 562 still got the win , This saw has cut tons of oak, maple , walnut with no trouble and is going to its new owner to cut mostly maple around 24 inch on the stump
