Mini skid vs articulated loader

Another reason i love my mini is the backhoe attachment. Last December i let my brother-inlaw borrow it for a couple weeks to redo his septic field. 7 trenches 5' deep 50' long and moved 50 ton of rock.

I have an avant 528 and yep, the sometimes bumpy ride is the only thing I do not absolutely love about it. It amazes me daily.

I totally agree, the Avant I demo'd is all over the minis in 90% of scenarios in my opinion, but I'm spending more and more time on a loader lately and somedays I can hardly walk when I get of it. Another crew I talked too have a sticker on theirs .."the spine breaker" lol. I'm fine with it and will keep my articulated loader for grass jobs, but need to get out of a seat.. Damn it!

ive got an articulated loader, and am buying a mini soon, mainly because sitting in the loader bumping around on uneven ground all day is wrecking my back, much better being able to stand up!

Hey, The Harbourist! Welcome to the TreeBuzz forum!

I have a dumb question. Would there be any way for you to retrofit a better, more shock- absorbing seat for the one you have now? I think custom seats might exist.

Tim

Head clearance is at a premium in the Avants, especially with a hard hat. Other brands have that offering.

Also with Avant not occilating, it is a bit more bumpy riding than some other brands.

I.know what you mean, I have lots of hours on Avants. The rigid frame can be brutal. One of the big reasons I love my Branch Manager Edition Loader, it's oscillating axles produces a much more comfortable ride. I meet with the owners of both brands in a couple weeks, I will bring up the possibility of more cushiony seats

Nice old beast Casey,
Looks something like a swinger -
refresh my mind its a coyote circa late 80's

people worry about ground pressure on lawns.
Dry ground with those 15" float tires no problems on turf

This is one of my old Articulating Loaders late 80's Case Davis - 30HP gas Wisconsin, and the first bypass rotating grapple I ever bought (long B4 BMGs) - she was a pig. but better than using my back

What happened to the Kubota articulated loaders?

There used to be a couple in our area...

I always thought those would be sweet.

Kubota dropped there smaller model the 420, they are really nice machines but heavy.
Oh yeah Wrangler thats the Brand, Paul at Ropetek has 1 also, obviously strong old machines.
I am changing the HD grapple head because of issues beyond just hose hassles.
Call me with your ideas and issues, I get the best ideas and help from Branch Manager customers. I will do what it takes to make it right.
