MINI SKID STEERS

Them little buggers can really lift. Heres a smaller Bobcat and a log this guy never had a forwarding machine in 20 years of doing tree work. he called me back so happy when he got his machine and grapple. His first day he Cut a full day of humpin brush & logs (by hand) on a tipped over oak to less than half a day. He said it felt like he was cheating -he & his partner couldn't wipe the smiles off their faces.

They are a great tool. Save tons of back pain and they don't complain after working all day.
Our's goes with us to almost every job, all it has to do is get it close to the grab truck.

Mangoes, The Grapple wieghs about 205 pounds.
I believe that Dingo is there low end model 22HP last year they had a special on them in MN $8900. Now a dealer wants $10,900 I Know if you put it next to your Thomas you be happy you got the Thomas. 4K on that Dingo would be a hell of a good price though. I wouldn,t go over 6 for it though

TNT, I've been wondering about a different design, but I thought I'd pick your brain. You might have already tried it and found it to be less efficient.

Instead of suspending the grapple, what about attatching it directly to the plate? Kind of get the carpenter ant look. I'd put it on a spindle to allow rotation. Have you tried/thought about it?

Sorry, 'TnT, but I have to take issue with this statement.
On the market today are other minis that have more power, more hyd. flow pumps AND get through smaller gates, than the Thomas units.
I know you are a dealer for the Thomas units, but could'nt you be at least a bit impartial on the TreeBuzz?
After all you have an incredible amount of experiance using these units, and your attachments are awesome, so your input is relevent.

Frans, could you embelish that list? I'd like to know who's got the various traits. I know mine is a little wide at 42'. But I think it wouldn't be that hard to switch over to wheels if you really needed to. The hubs and sprockets are there, all I'd need is the tires and chains.

Tom I was actually thinking of something like the attatchment.

In fact I have, Up side is It does give you more lifting power for sure, downsides are your log & brush ends are alot closer to your grill cover. If you watch that its probably not a problem, I would think it would also be harder to feed your chipper.(ck out butt lenght on pic). You would probably put it up on the tray and then grab it again and feed it. You also lose lift hieght and your loader arms are running higher under load which would make it more tippy on a slope. Gotta tell you I have not run that design alot for tree work, It is actualy a prototype for a different application. Email me I'll show ya

You can see in this pic how having the long butts aids a one shot chipper feed, on the previous one you might notice that those butts are rubbing up along side the machine

Appologies to all buzzer's, sorry for cadillac reference (higher analogies would have been mercedes, accura)
Boxer-"maybe the Mercedes? - 36" diesel Track cost 20~21K
Vermeer-"maybe the Acura???" - 42" diesel ~20K
Thomas 35dt"maybe the cadillac??" 42" diesel track 15K
On and on, I run chevys @ TNT(25G wheel machines 11K).

All the machines are realitivly close in capacity and lift with some exceptions (you will pay for). If you landscrape (trenching and digging) and are in hilly terain I would go track diesels. Here in the flatlands the chevy's are quite adequate for tree draggin and auger'in 30" holes. The higher end/cost machines will get you through a 36" gate and what .... give you 10 ~ 20 percent more performance speed ? Put the 35dt next to the S600 man I don't why you would spend 5 grand more? /forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif The Boxer really can't be compared to those machines because it is a 36" machine and ~20K

Sorry guys didn't mean to be biased, I buy Thomas for my tree company cuz They are alot of machine for the money, and I buy them cheaper cuz I am a dealer. /forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Hey Frans, we are looking at becoming boxer dealers they want us to, I am hesitating because of the high cost of those machines. Go to the bank and get that boxer you've been dreaming of you won't regret it /forum/images/graemlins/bangtard.gif (ck out KOA's Boxer /forum/images/graemlins/avid.gif)
Mangoes could you go back to not owning a mini?

Like I have said b4 any of these little machines will do the job. All the variations (the way I see it) will maybe give you a 10~20% swing in proficiency. If you drag brush & logs, have lots of work, and your going to stay in this biz, get a forwarding machine it will soon pay for itself in more ways than you can imagine /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif
