Mini-skid pulling to one side in reverse

Having never done this swap/repair before it took a week. That’s getting the parts shipped and all. So with everything in hand 16 hours is a reasonable guess. But having done it I bet we could do it in six hours start to finish. We replaced some lines that are hard to get to but was easy since it was all apart.

Just north of 2000. One of the output shaft bushings burned up. Still drove but had obvious loss of power and squealed under heavy load.

I have faith in your ability to do this repair. It’s not rocket surgery just plug and play type work. Just label all the lines and their locations, that’s where the colored zip ties come in play. Keep a level head it will be frustrating working in confined spaces. Take breaks often.

Another piece of advice, lots of pics during disassembly, maybe even the occasional video of where things go. I've had "uh, where's that go?" Moments in the past that having a pic or video that shows it really helped out.

Also, if your changing your drive motors, pay attention to torque specs. My mini is a wheeled machine with the spindle nuts needing 385 ft lbs of torque. I ruined a brand new motor and a new spindle after rebuilding that one, before realizing I wasn't getting enough torque, even after bending a 1/2" ratchet. Luckily I have a vermeer dealer down the road that torqued it for free after I assembled it

We replaced one a couple few yrs back and it was 350 ft-lbs, we estimated by Sean standing x-amount out on a breaker bar as my torque wrench goes to ~250ft-lbs. and we were on an island. Most definitely on the photos and videos, learned that one too many times.

Even swapping the hoses was maddening, 1/16 turns on a slippery wrench bumping head and peeling knuckles. 10 yrs ago there would be lost wrenches, broken whatever was nearby, and a staving headache.

Update. Swapped the hoses, which was a total bear, and the drag switched sides. Pulling to the right in reverse but fine going forward.

Had a long talk with knowledgeable tech at the dealer in Mass, something in the main pump and they don’t do rebuilds $3.7k pump. They change both drive motors with a failed main pump and do a flush with two hyd fluid changes which costs $8-10k.

He recommended calling a local hydraulic shop and seeing if they can rebuild it but has heard that it is an uncommon one to rebuild. All the work at their shop would be under a 1 yr warranty.
That was my bad
The pump sent shit into your track drive so the pump is already failing and the track motor is showing you this . I haven’t dealt with that issue for awhile but after this occurred I got away from DW brand cause they pissed me off with that pump failing shit after 1k or little more hours.. my buddy has an older 850 bought and had to replace the pump shortly after . Just put another 1200 hours on it and it’s failing again

Thanks for asking, was introduced to a rock crusher mobile mechanic who does side work like this and he’s digging into it. Narrowed it to part of the first pump section and found that there is an adjustable piece, waiting on a bit of research but he did pressure tests etc and otherwise seems fine. It hasn’t got worse and he said we’re not going to damage anything by running it. So…hope he’s right.
