Mini rake

So I put this York rake style together for the front of my mini last fall and yesterday was the first chance I got to use it for raking up after felling trees. I have used it with dirt and it was ok but not spectacular, so I didn't think it would work very well.... Until yesterday. This thing is awsome and it only cost right around $200 to build. Now I just gotta figure out how to mount it to the truck!

I haven't used one but I don't think it would work to well with sticks. I have considered setting up a crew to do leaf collection with a debris loader and a small chip truck tho.

I think sticks would be picked up before hand.

I plan to find out how it will do on Stump grindings, leaves, what's left after sticks, etc.

The 25G's had a 3mph ground speed. I'm not sure how that translates to the 25GT's speed.
Should be about the same, the drive cogs for my tracks are roughly the same size as the OD of the tires. A little more ground speed sure would make a big difference for my operation.

I converted my 25G from a 2 section pump with 2 sets of auxiliary hydraulics to a single section pump with one set. That increased the drive speed by roughly 50%.

The original pump was 8gpm/4gpm, I replaced it with a single 12gpm pump.

Was there a reason for removing one of the sets of auxiliaries? Is a section of the pump dedicated to one of the aux? I was thinking making the mini faster was going to be a winter project and haven't done any research on it. If you already did the leg work of the research that sure would save me some time.

Yes, the two sections run the machine and second aux separately. I removed the secondary and ran all 12gpm through the main valve bank.

Granted, this was 6-8 years ago.

@flyingsquirrel25 How fast is your Thomas for ground speed? I have a 25GT and I feel like its way slower than it should be.

Never put it in front of a radar gun but it seams to be an ok speed.
I have found when traveling long distances I want more speed, but if on short runs its almost too fast and jerky. I like the secondary hydros because I can pull up to my wood splitter and run it off the fast aux set.

Yeah I'm running a 20" chipper so I usually have a long drag to the chipper since I'm not bringing it onto most lawns. My Thomas can start to feel like a snail at times.
I don't think I'd want to remove the second set of aux hydrous because eventually I have an rg20 grinder I'd like to get set up as an attachment for it. But that's pretty far down on the priority list. Anyway..... Sorry for the hi-jack back to the rake!

I always wanted to get the bmg rake but just never pulled the trigger. Always wondered how a standard landscape rake would work. Looks like it did a pretty good job!

Wow, I'm surprised you are running a 20" chipper with a small mini skid like the 25g. I would think the chipper would blow through the materials (which is probably why you think it's slow) faster than you could move it. I'm feeding a 10" chipper which can be painful some days cause the chipper just can't keep up.
No hijack just conversation!
I was thinking about the BMG rake too, but (sorry Dave) couldn't justify the $1000. This works good enough I'll go with it for a while. I do have to take the BMG off though which can be a pain!

I also have a trac loader but its a little harsh on the lawns so I usually just bring the mini. I need to build a new grapple for the skid loader and I might use it more. Right now I just have a clam style grapple and cant run strait in and strait out like I could if I had a dangle style grapple.

10" chipper feeding a new 30 million cubic foot chip truck. That thing must take you 3 days to fill up now. Still loving the new truck?
It's only 16 yards, and when pruning it takes more that 3 days to fill it. On removals it takes 2.75 hrs to fill (old truck was .75). And yes still loving it. You gotta take a day off from work.... Well to come work :).

I figured sometime this month or early October. I was just counting the vaca I had left compared to projects I got and other time off scheduled. I feel the need for a few treecation days.

I hate how easy you make it sound. I love that you tell us that sh*t.
