Meeting with an accountant

2006 will be my first year operating my tree service full time. So far my record keeping has been pretty hit and miss. I am meeting with an accountant on Wednesday to help me get off to a good start. I am compiling a list of questions for her and looking for suggestions. Anyone have any ideas?

seriously though.....she'll probably just look at what you've been doing up till now and if shes any good will pick out straight away where you need putting right.
probably best to go with the flow, so long as you have an idea of what buiness you're going to be doing.

I finally found a great accountant. My advice is if you don't feel comfortable and they don't make you feel welcome, don't take it personal and search for a better fit.

I fit in the category that messing with my money is messing with my emotions so I recommend finding someone who you can trust. You should be looking to start a wonderful relationship with someone who will be privy to your most intimate financial details.

She should know where there is room to play (her job to save you $$) and where it is black and white.

My record keeping is simple but I keep at it. All simple Excel sheets (contract climber). The better record keeping you have, the more room they have to play. Poor record keeping is also like not being able to see the score board until the end of the game. That gets old - knowing you ran around with the ball, and got a lot of yardage, but not knowing if you scored. The number 1 motivator is feedback on results.

Good luck!!

Let us know how it goes.
