Mecanil Rake

I use mine all the time with my excavators. A little tricky to grab with the 3 tined grapple but works great once I get the magical mystery position just right. Bought it for the Giant, wasnt sure it would hold up to the abuse but it’s been raking for several years now ( 5 +) and I’m glad I bought it.
Edit: mine is not for the mecanil, just the little bmg rake

This is the bmg rake as well.

If you didn't know, you can order replacement wood and tines that bolt into the frame. I needed to replace mine after about 5 years. It was stored outside for that period, so weather probably contributed to it beginning to fall apart.

My bud bought one. Not a Mec, maybe not even a BMG, but I noticed it needs some kind of kickstand to keep the “handle” off the ground in order to grab it. Once in the grapple, it seemed effective but watching the poor guy trying to pick it up was less enjoyable.

It's a learned skill. Assuming it's a bmg grapple and rake. Have him loosely grab it on the ground and lift for it to align itself with the bristles facing down. Then lift the arms and tilt the grapple back to line up the post before closing the grapple firmly.

Often lining up that post is the trickiest part. It'll never line up on a side slope. Turn the machine to facing uphill and shifting the machine left or right slightly can swing the rake around to help it line up.

I appreciate that post, though it sounds nothing like his “handle”. He’s got a couple parallel, outward facing angle irons for the tips of each grapple time to nest into. Shaped kinda like… >—< …if that makes sense. Might be a BMG because I know he bought a rigid rotating grapple from them. Perhaps an older design???

Gotcha. I've seen similar designs for attaching to an excavator grapple. I could see how he would need a kickstand for that design, unless it had a wide enough base to support itself vertically.
