Mean thought just crossed my mind

WesSpur has free shipping on rope other than by the spool, which are 600'. The cost for a spool is the same as by the foot times 600. For reels they charge $25. to ship.
What if you ordered 599' to get the free shipping.
Just a thought that went through my head.

I liked Wespur until they revamped their website.....
I hope they get a better one. Couldn't even login the last 2 times I tried. That's okay though, I took it as a sign not to get more stuff, at this current time.

The deal with the rope sounds odd. What the hell's going on over there?

I’m pretty sure when I ordered a spool it was dropped shipped from the manufacturer. That’s what the shipping covered. Seem to remember the sender’s addresses was Samson. The spool was significantly cheaper regarding by the foot price. I needed a 300’ continuous rope anyway.

Last time and only time I bought a spool, they called me. The conversation was double checking if I actually wanted the rope on a physical spool or if I just wanted 600'. I can't recall all the details, but it sounded like the spool itself made the box too big for free shipping.
However it worked out I didnt have to pay for oversized shipping, I don't think I have ever paid for oversized shipping on any of my Wesspur orders.
I once paid extra for next day shipping, the box didnt come any faster or slower (it showed up in two days). I realized that the issue is UPS and FEDeX, and living on a island. Their systems just look at zip codes and assume there are roads, not accounting for ferries and only sending things out of the distribution center once in the AM, vs multiple times per day.

Not just because you are on an island. I find that next day shipping arrives the same as it would have if I used the cheapest shipping method available. From WesSpur 4 business days to me no matter if free shipping or next day air. 4 business days. Only people who benefit from next day shipping is UPS.
Fed-Ex is totally worthless here. They get it to Minneapolis, which is 200 miles from me and stick it in the U.S. mail and call it delivered. Of course the U.S. mail then takes another five business days to get it to me as it will sit in the Twin Cities for two or three more days before being put on a truck headed my way.
I have not ordered a reel of rope from WesSpur, but I do a lot of business with them. I'm not fond of VSG and prefer to help the little guys as much as possible, within reason. WesSpur has always matched lower prices found elsewhere when I have asked. That's nice.

Please forgive my slow mind this morning. What is this? "I'm not fond of VSG." Meaning of VSG, that is. Thanks, in advance.

I was talking to Ray at Gap Arb Supply last week and he was saying that business is way off. He has had to lay off employees and he said Sherrill and others have as well.
Do you think that this is the result of inflation causing people to choose not to have tree work done, because they need the money to pay for the ever increasing price of all the usual necessities? Thanks, in advance, for any opinions you'd care to share.

Verticle Supply Group. It is the company that owns Sherrilltree; TreeStuff; Bishops; Notch; Tree Punk; Rope Logic; Sterling; Rescue Direct; Atlantic Braids.
Actually, VSG was acquired by Girdiron Capital, So I probably should have said Gridiron instead of VSG.
But if you get something from any of those, it is all the same company.

The economy Tim. The local companies around here have been slow for 6 to 9 months now. Some only have work 2 to 3 days a week and this is the second largest city in Georgia.
