matting in....

My crane is 55000 lbs. Ive used plywood with excellent success on bad driveways as long as the ground underneath isn't soft. I have flat sided alturnamats with no impressions left afterward. Again as long as the soil isn't soft.

Hey, allmark! Just out of curiosity, do you have any method of objectively measuring the firmness of the soil underneath the driveway before you attempt to put a crane on it?

The follow up question, for anyone who cares to take it, is whether or not the release form has ever come into play after a job was finished? As in, was damage ever done to a driveway, in spite of best efforts to avoid it? In spite of knowingly signing a release form, I would imagine a customer being pretty unhappy if some expensive damage ended up happening.

Maybe the arb company could work out a deal with some paving companies that do high quality work, to provide service at a discount to customers whose driveways have been damaged. Possibly a steady stream of work for the paving companies, in exchange for a steady good deal for the arb customers.

Thanks in advance for any answers anyone chooses to provide.
