Man killed in tree cutting accident in N.H.

A climber was killed in southern N.H. last tuesday working alone from what i was told he cut one side of a double stem tree tied in w/t only a lanyard and he felled it into another tree witch caused it to bounce back into his chest crushing him..... please never climb alone

Having no readily available escape route can be deadly to a climber, alone or not.

I'm certainly not advocating climbing alone of course. Just advocating always having a readily available escape route.

If you look at the pics of the tree it looks like he put a back cut at about thirty feet with no face cut. My eyes tell me the top and the awful cut caused the stem to split and his flipline crushed him...

It was very windy that day here in NH and I would bet that the wind had something to do with it.
