Lot of climbing

Location
Chicago
Yesturday we removed this 34" Burr Oak at my house. I tried to save it but it did not take. We put a block in a neighboring Hickory and redirect it through anoth Oak, plus another climbing system in the live oak to the left, that rope was redirected and will be used for blocking down the wood.

Must of the brush was tip tied into the drift line with a but tie. Balancing the load between the two rigging points let us take larger peices. With out the extra work of setting up the rigging in other trees we would have had to take much smaller loads and pull them by hand.

Logging. Got low enough to use the second tie in point. Made the work much easier. Had to block down around 10 pieces.

Felled the last 12' or so. Used logs to build a bridge. Left a large hinge and used the GRCS to pull it over slowly. The hing broke about 8' off the ground reducing the divet. All went well. Hope my other trees make it.

So when are you inviting all us to come over for a few beers? Thats a nice looking house. Too bad about the oak. Looks like the redirect worked out nicely.

hey Tod, my wife was just saying how beautiful your house is, she was wondering if you'd like to do a swap next vacation time? It would be so much fun. Here's ours. You could even bring your Silky?
