Lost my finger tip

@swingdude glad you are healing up and back to climbing. Last November in California I had my fingertip on my right pinky literally pulled off. It got sucked into a redirect block while I was hoisting the aerial rescue dummy. The dummy’s foot got hung up, I released the dummy’s foot and immediately my finger got sucked into the block and the tip was avulsed because of the tension in the line. I didn’t lose an entire digit but my finger will certainly never be the same. I didn’t climb for a few months after that. It certainly makes me more willing to slow down in the moment and think about the consequences of various actions.

@RyanCafferky; Sorry to hear about this happening to you, as well as to @swingdude. If it can happen to veterans like yourselves, I know a guy like me has to really be on his guard. Thank you both for sharing your stories. They will hopefully prevent accidents from happening to others in a similar fashion. Some circumstances present hazards that are just really hard to see beforehand.

I got my finger pinched in a block while doing some solo rigging. I can easily see how you can loose one this way, thought I lost mine for a split second

Ryan thanks bud. It will never be the same. I agree. But we move on. Hope you are doing well bud.

Damn, sorry to hear about your loss. Glad to hear you were able to get past the injury without a lot of financial hardship.
I am no doctor but from what you have said I totally agree that you made the right choice.....even if everything went perfect it would have been a long time before you could work again and likely a lot longer before the repaired finger would not interfere with your ability to use that hand without concern.
