Looking for climbers

Help wanted:

Tree-climbers (2-4) to help with forest ecology research project in the Klamath National Forest in northern California. Responsibilities involve climbing mature white fir trees (approx. 20-40” DBH and 60-90 ft height) to remove single branches from the mid-canopy for a conifer needle nutrient study. This is a short-term time commitment of 2 or 4 successive days in mid/late August or early September 2006 (dates and number of days will be determined based on climbers’ availability). The project site is located approximately 1 hour south of Klamath Falls, OR and north Mt. Shasta, CA.

This project will provide: lodging in USFS research house, $44 per diem reimbursement, and hourly or contracted compensation (negotiable).

Climbers must be in good physical condition and provide: personal transportation to the Goosenest Ranger District (Macdoel, CA), personal climbing gear and protective equipment, and proof of current medical insurance.

Don't you just love it when people don't participate with the boards and then spam it with help wanted ads and the like................ /forum/images/graemlins/zombie.gif

She's at ArboristSite too.

It would be nice if people could hook up but I doubt anyone will.

At any rate she's just a minor nuisance compared to what MasterBlaster was when he was over there. /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I rather think she came to the right place. It's not like she just dropped in trying to sell male sexual enhancement pills/creams/etc. She's definitely on topic here with a legitimate offer of a couple days work. Maybe she didn't know the throughput here isn't all that great and that one offer would likely have been seen by everyone.

I say good luck to Jessica!

I've spoken with Jessica and this sounds like a good paid vacation oppertunity to take on with some friends. Recreational climbing in a really nice area. From my location, climb and hike for free and get the trip paid for. I'm going to try and make some thing out of this and I hope that I'll get the chance to meet some buzz dorks on the way.

Its sounds good and far away from the pains and strains of curbside tree work. Plus the country is stunning- maybe ride out a thunderstorm! I would like to hear of more oprtunities like this. Afterall urban tree work can get old, but what do i know i'm a NewBorn. /forum/images/graemlins/icon10.gif

Ya, with out the airfare I'm having a hard time justifying it to. I'm waiting to get some more details from her via e-mail. They are working off grant money and they did not ask for enough of it. What she's offering would be ok for some one local who did'nt have anything better to do for 3-4 days. Sounds like alot of fun just the same. She also told me that last time they tried to collect the branch samples with a sharp shooter (yes a rifle man) but the branches would get caught in the canopy. She also wanted to know if I'd be using spikes, Yikes! I'd have to buy a new rope to, my longest here in texas is 120 feet. Our cattle usally let us get at least that close /forum/images/graemlins/bud.gif /forum/images/graemlins/bud.gif

Nick, I emailed her with the info she requested and told her I'd do it if she included travel from Texas. I have not heard back from her yet but I hope to meet you there. It sounds like a really nice time. - Nevic

The egg doesn't matter, it's an old expression about getting something for nothing. Not unlike lagniappe.
