Hello All,

I own a Notch Foot Ascender.

Yesterday I had the good fortune to climb some 200' Redwoods with a group of the nicest tree climbers around (pro and recreational). The ascender Notch Foot Ascender has one really great quality, in that it's easy "on" in terms of attaching it to the rope. Unfortunately, it is also easy "off". As I was climbing, I had to keep reconnecting. I'm sure it has to do with my bow-legged, wonky, ass out, climbing technique. So...in order to counteract all of that, I would like to acquire a foot ascender that stays on the rope until I want to remove it...but is easy to remove when that time comes.

Any favorites?

And while you're thinking about that...check out this amazing project by our host. Simply fantastic!

Thank you.

I use the notch, my foot pops out occasionally but the easy off is worth it me, I do wish the made the little keeper thing at the top so you could flip which way it faces.

The CT Quickstep is probably the best out-of-box setup, or the Petzl if you add the optional latch. And that is an amazing build!

Thank you, all. I went with the CT. Your input was greatly appreciated.

As an aside, with the addition of a saddle, I’ll have enough gear to outfit a friend.
The only question is which will come first: making a friend who wants to climb, or finding a second saddle?
