Looking at chipper in AM

Going to look at a Brush Bandit 90 in the morning. All I know is that it is a 2001. Saw one pic and it looks to be in nice shape. The fella said it had low hours. He is said he is asking $7000 firm. For that price what type of hour range would be reasonable and what size/type of motor should it have?

Anything else to look out for? Any advice would be great. This is going to be my first chipper purchase. thanks.

Too small.

If you are going to spend 7k go get the 250 and put on the new guages.

you wont regret it.

but you will regret having a 90 just about every time you use it.

I haven't regretted mine yet. I don't want/need to chip big wood. The only thing I wish it had was a winch, and I could get one of those if I wanted to.

For my situation the 9" is as big as I want to go. Of course there will be times I wish I could just chip the whole tree, but it doesn't fit with my overall situation.

Any thoughts on the pricing?

Do you know if it's a gas or diesel engine? I saw a new gas engine 90 at the dealer last year and I think it was about 16 or 17k and the diesel engine models where in the low to mid 20's.

...... I used to rent chippers a lot till I purchased ....the bandit 90 is true performer , feed wheels have a wrapping tendancy once in a while ....other than that equipped with the Perkins diesel it was plenty good machine ... Dave

Just give it a look over like you are buying a car. I ran into adeal on a used chipper once and when he started it I noticed that was leaking. The head was cracked and would have cost almost as much as buying the unit.

Alright, here is what I found out. Machine looks good. No dents or missing pieces. Typical rust spots from being outside and used lightly. There are 1100 hours on machine. Gas engine. Guy said 4 cylinder chrysler engine? could that be right? He said it was original. Does not know HP. Starts right up, engages fine, doesn't blow any smoke. No signs of leaks. Everything seems to function as it should. He is asking $7000 firm. Does it seem reasonable considering what little you know?

I think the wisconsin was refferred to as Chrysler. Wisconsin is as good of an enginge as any gas engine just a little costly, but still very good. I f you like it buy it. if something jumped out at you then don;t.

Well, I bought the chipper. I had a good feeling about it. I will be picking it up in a couple of days. I will keep you posted on the outcome, and probably ask a few questions along the way. Thanks for your thoughts and ideas.
