LONG LIVE THE 066 !!!

Bought a husky (i think it is a 378xp) it was supposed to be comparable to my 066. My 066 is like an old harley(leaks oil and parts falling off). a guy sold me the husky saying it is a little better than the 066. I thought, what the heck. so laid the 066 in the garage put the husky in the truck. after about 10 removals or more i decided to put the 066 in the truck to see the comparison. i will just say the 066 tore that husky up. LONG LIVE THE 066!!! LONG LIVE STIHL!!!

I don't know of any other saw engine that produces power everywhere (low rpm torque right up to high rev tear it up) like the 660. Love it.

The 372xp is a great saw as well though.

You realize the 372 is about 21cc smaller then the 066 .

You would have to buy the 395xp to run a husky of the same size as a 066.

Lets see 372, 576, 385, 390, 395. See how many saw sizes you went down from the 066.

used my friends 066 magnum a couple of weeks back. that saw is killer. i liked my 7900 big bore better though and its only 6cc less then the 066. both work well but id have to say the 066 has way more torque then the 7900 but the 7900 pulls bars better in hard wood. there are lots of factors though. the chains he uses are different then what i use. for bars over 28" i use 0.63 round chisel bit skip. for bars 20"-28" i use 0.53 full house chains and anything smaller gets 0.50.
it's crazy though that the 7900 keeps up with the stihl 066.

I wasn't comparing the 372 to the 660, just noting that it's a great (husky) saw. I'm not sure what saw fatcord was referring to. 385?

One of the strengths of the 660 is just how tough it is built. 32" bar and square ground chain and you've got a scary tree killing machine.

guess you didn't do your homework. yes, the 066 is a hoss. it's also 20+cc's larger, close to 3 lbs heavier, and about $400 more expensive. both have their place and both are great saws.

660's eat 395's for breakfast and craps 2195's in the chip truck at lunch time. We have 2 395's and can't keep them from rattleing themselves apart. Mufflers and pull cord covers all rattle right off. All the loctite in the world can't keep them together. They make one hell of a good boat anchor or wheel chock though!

oh idk a about that one. they are both great saws but a 395xp running the same bar and chain set up as the stihl will smoke a 660. i can promise you that a 660 will not cut as fast as a 395xp. i have found though that the stihl holds the rpms better then then husqy but wil not match the power and torque that the 395 dishes out.

haha ok if we ever meet i'll bring my ported 395xp and we can have a saw off. make sure you bring the wood and long bars only. 32"-36"

A 395 will not "smoke" a 660. The 395 may have a slight edge in bigger wood but it is not going to totally demoralize a 660. I'm talking stockers. Ported saws can go either way. Depends on the builder. I've seen ported saws that where slower than stock. In fact, before I had a clue about working on saws, I built and owned the worlds slowest 026. The only ones slower would have been ones that where shut-off in the truck. lol
