Lockjack Safety Alert!

Tockmal,

I'm with you 100%! Putting up any safety concerns is a very important thing. If someone who has a LJ reads this thread and not the manual they'll learn something. If someone reads this thread and realizes that reading the manual might save their life then they will have a safer life.

Saying that a complex tool is unsafe is not constructive. Going backwards, like someone else did, look at all of the other tools that we use that have killed or maimed people. Knowing the tools design or purpose limitations is important. If climbers ever want to have a super simple system they are welcome to tie a bows'ns seat out of their rope and climb. That sort of rig went out of fashion decades ago.

Tom,

Its funny you should bring up the issue of a bosun's seat.

What with all this hullabaloo about the TreeMotion and Treeflex I decided to design a retro harness for the old school posse, I've incorprated new technologies such as engineered plywood and dynamic-alloy fixings combined with synthetic arborfibres, what do you think?

ps - I'm particularly proud of the tool attachment points.

I hope you've already applied for a patent.

Bet you could fit a cup holder to it if you wanted.

Does it have a name? How about Buttflex!

PreSHisely!

Hey, I'm aloud to clean up now and then. I spend most the week looking like dog$hit.

I have the LJ Sport. The wooden knob came off shortly after I got it. Never saw a need to put it back on. I just grasp the body of theLJ with a finger on the remaining piece and it works smooth as silk. Just like releasing a microcender

Hello there,

i am new here in the Board, Leo from Austria, born in the Netherlands.

I start my own company now and am gonna buy a LJ Sport. Back to basic, think the described accident won't happen while as/descending. The karabs should also have these fixations so they wont turn! on the pics i have not seen them! While pruning or working u should always use a Flip-line 4 example with Positioner. Before as/descending automaticly check the equipment. In comination with the advised karab no problem. If you sell or borrow your LJ i think the manual should come with it, otherwise u are responsible

I think the SpiderJack's descend handly could get stuck in my belt even when as/descending but i have no experience with this. Does anyone have? I am still not sure witch one to choose and hope you can advise me, for its a hole lot of monney....

Thx

leo
