I figure this may show some interest. These pics are from a chapter competition. The safety protocols were totally acceptable at the time they were taken.

I just had my hair cut in the 1st pic. I’m not sure but throw bags may have come out about this time.
The 2nd pic was the body thrust. Notice the great cut on this tree. A good example of target pruning.

I found this in my bookmarks.

MSU Pub. from 1972.

The equipment we have today is outright amazing compared to then. Spar work at the time of this publication was difficult and dangerous. I remember cutting notches in the tree to create a crotch, then attach a rope to the wood I was removing. I don’t miss those days.
