Living Wage?

Mark, For that I am not to sure on the other tax scales, but being single you get done over pretty badly, the self employed get really hammerd. Married couples get done over also if the wife works, its all mad. The self employed climbers that i do know, normally make sure they put aleast 50% of their income in the bank, as they get taxed so heavily. There is many a british climber jumped ship before the german tax system gets hold of them, then the employer gets screwed over and has to cough up the remaider percentage of tax. Causes all sorts of problems, I seen it for my own eyes.

lets say I make almost 1900 euro per month before tax my take home is 1200 euro.

Scotty, are you fest on a lohnsteur karte or independent on a gewerbeschein? Do they at least kiss you on the back of the neck when they take that from your pay?

I am on a gewerbeschein, my wife is employed on a tax card. Being married, she is in the best tax class and has very minimal deductions.

Being self employed, I get hammered pretty hard. I with hold a third every month. It is also bad because I really have no expenses and earn pretty well. I do have expenses like the flight to Australia for my "internship" which also happened to include a one month stop over in Thailand.

Nathan was wondering when you were going to drop a note on this subject, yeah I work fest on the lohnsteur karte.

Hope you are enjoying the thursday holiday here in germany.
