I learned on a mid mount 15 ton with 63 foot of stick no lmi pretty good learning curve. But even with that shortie you can make time and take some decent size pieces. Some picks are not pretty because u can't get over the piece.
Now I'm running an 18t 70 footer and that 7 foot of stick does make a huge difference. I can't say we have a lot of pieces that go swinging like in your video but yes it happens. When I know stuff isn't gonna balance worth a damn we stick a butt tie on it. That also helps when the little guy don't got as much capacity as you'd like. crane has the tip ropes got the butt you can swing it around boom up some let the load slowly onto boom as situation improves. I have learned, with working with several climbers who have no clue how to work with a crane, to chase loads, swing loads around, and basically make magic happen. Yes a swinging load isn't the best but a smooth swing is better then a dropping load.
