Liriodendron cabling

In looking at the picks, if those unions at the base are not actively cracking, this tree would be a fine candidate for a synthetic, non invasive, (no hardware) system. Could be installed easily at the proper height, and maintained for many years while providing good hazard mitigation.

I would also support just pruning and maintenance and could see this tree being an asset for many years. Depends on exposure to winds, local history of storms, etc.

If a tree is actively cracking, it is in the process of failing. In that location especially it’s a removal, no question. EHS is an excellent opportunity for supplemental support to avoid that process even starting. With the added bonus it will never girdle the stem when it’s inevitably forgotten about for maintenance and inspection.
