Lime tree removal

Sweet stuff. When did you convert to knot-less rigging? (Reference to the carabineers & half hitches). Or, have you been doing that all along? My memory can be mistaken... I do the same. It is way faster than knots.

(And for those of you who will jump on me for it...I'm aware of the potentials for loading a bineer the wrong way, and not on the gate, and not with super heavy loads...)

And I noticed your groundie running logs out for the drift line. I have tried and tried to explain the benefits of doing that for my groundie, but he uses his arms.

You have some fun trees to climb over there. You gotta show us your skills brother. I know you have it in you.

Nice work.

It has to be jealousy Reg.

And then there are others who just can’t handle the truth!

Jealousy

[/ QUOTE ]

If truly aroused though watching a fellow worker cutting branches off a tree, mostly in bad weather etc, such an individual would have to have some serious deficiencies in their own sense of self-worth….that’s kinda sad!

Well I’ve rigged plenty of super-heavy loads throughout 20 years without a failure….but it is always wise to add a half hitch or even 2 just to take the sting out of the load before it engages the Karabiner. Also, if the rope is at all slack or in-correctly aligned, the Krab can shift out of position upon the limb being severed, with the potential for misalignment or even the gate being forced against the log and actually working its way open….all in the blink of an eye….I’ve seen that happen, which is one reason why a knot i.e. a running bowline is always the safer option.

Hey Reg. What happened on the 2nd video at 3min. 25sec.?

[/ QUOTE ]

As far as I can see the branch came out with a little jolt so I reached out to steady myself…..nothing to worry about.

It appears that some lowlife from one of these forums has been reporting me for breach of copyright in regards to inclusion of such tracks on some of the videos….

[/ QUOTE ]

Reg, same thing happened to my vids on youtube, it isn't lowlife, its just that each song has a distinct digital code. These digital codes are used by people to identify if a particular song has been added to a video. They have a computer program at youtube that identifies and sorts these codes which enables interested parties to pay a small fee to Youtube for finding the codes and stopping the use of certain copyrighted songs.

Youtube will never be the same after being bought by Google, Google have to be see to be acting responsibly otherwise they'll be getting sued by every recording artist looking to make a quick buck. Its all down to that evilbreed of human or subhuman - lawyers.

Nice vids

But, if we have bought the music for our own usage, can't we still use it in our videos? Don't they give up their "permission" when someone buys their music?

Nice work Reg, love the footage. Always nice to be able to crash a bit of wood down after the brush is off.

The music issue is a good example of why I don't care for the music 'industry.' I'm sure if some of the bands that the labels 'represent' were asked if they minded if their songs were used in scenarios like this they would say they thought it was great. Do they think that someone is sitting there watching a tree video solely for the music rather than paying for it? Not likely.

Or maybe we're just not cool enough for them Gord!

Great work Reg. I liked to hear you walking through things a couple of times there in the second vid.

Always a good watch. Keep it up.

Are you sure there is a person responsible(if so I dont want names)? Ive had several songs pulled too. My take on it is youtube is policeing to get you to use songs they approve. I have substituted there music and now notice when it plays there is an offer to buy it.
This is just my opinion.

Hey Reg, has that Lime tree stub been removed now?

For those of you who still want to know who the singer is and the name of the song in the first video, it shows up now on the youtube site at the beginning of the first video, though I think you should watch it again instead of me saying anything about it.

Well done, sir. I'm adding both to my web site as examples of proper work.

On the music thing, Gord is right. Speaking as one who has been in the music industry (performer/songwriter) for 25 yrs., there is too much "industry," but it has always been like that.

From the performer aspect, any promo is good promo to a certain extent. But, we do have the perspective that the performance is an artistic creation, and therefore is a copywright-able thing. While there is some concern about footage that is of an off-night and not up to their liking being out there forever, the main thing that is of concern is images/sound that are used, especially concert footage, in a way that can be edited out of context. But, generally as long as the whole is played, with adequate citation, there's usually no beef. Especially with the sweet sound of Stihl in the background. Publicity is publicity, good or bad. Performers generally don't worry about free promotion, especially if it may help them get a gig. I've always held that if it is stricktly for private use, go for it. Hopefully I won't suck that night.

Another concern is because the song IS their artistic creation and is how most of them make a living. If someone uses their music to make money, or downloads it for free (sort of like photos of YOUR treework), it's taking what they created and not compensating them for it. Hince all the Napster issues and court cases. The "industry" hacks are even more anal about it.

However, I still don't see the issue with using it on Youtube et al as background, especially when it's cited. Free promo is free promo.

Hope I didn't drift off the thread too much. Not too often other parts of my life get involved on the tree side. Anyone have any questions on a Molinist view of Divine Knowledge? Or how about moving a horse from hackamore to Two- Rein? I could complete the circle...

Not heard a thing since Chris. The Ground keepers are probably still arguing over it.
