lenght of cord - eye to eye or not

ya know, i've been thinking about that and sheepishly have to admit i got it wrong. it's a termination knot on your climbing line that potentially interferes with the friction hitch by simply rubbing up against it at inopportune moments. termination knots for the hitch cord are just...inelegant. both bug me, but the latter is harmless.

sorry for my confusion..

Technically, no one is "supposed" to do it...but there are tons of people who "can."

not sure who these "tons" of people are, as i'm currently pestering no less than 3 reputable professional suppliers of arborist rope tools to find one person willing.

as for "supposed to".. well, there's a lot i'm not "supposed to" do or be, so i don't put too much store in that. if i were splicing for other people that would be a different thing, so i understand your reluctance. i believe randy nulle at samson pronounced bailout unspliceable because the splice is so difficult, not because it's impossible or dangerous. i could be wrong on that. the weave is extremely tight, and the final bury apparently demands flesh as a sacrifice for completion. not many are that interested.
