Leg Scabbard review

I recently bought the new leg handsaw scabbard and I must admit I was somewhat skeptical I even teased Mark about it ,but after using it a few times I must say that I really like it.On those long limb walks where your streching out you dont have to search along your saddle just reach down.I have found that my climbing line gets snagged on it from time to time and footlocking was a little cumbersome but I got used to that.
Has anybody else been using one ? Mark do you use this all the time or only in certain situations?

Hey Roachy, I've been climbing with my handsaw on my leg for a few years now. I used to tape it to my leg. I do notice that it may get snagged on the ropr from time to time. That is why we put a lock on it. We are currently looking at making it even better (I'll fill you in when we reach a conclusion). I think that (for me anyway) there is enough stuff on my harness and you can't find a more efficient place to put a handsaw. It is now a one-handed operation. Very nice when you are out on a limb and need to hold on. Really quick to grab, cut and replace. Just lock it in before you do any long climbs.

hey I too have been using a scabbard on my leg for some time I have them made for me by a leather guy- he repairs my wife's horse blankets and tack.
My only issue with it is figureing out a better way to lock it in. I think i'll use a Silky set up- it locks in auto.

Hi guys, funny you mention this leg scabbard.I was first introduced to this about four years ago at a competition I was in .My friend Gary Abrogina used the duct tape rutine . Although, I felt it worked well,I was looking for something a little more convinent. So I took an old back brace that had wide velcro and stretchy material and hade my wife so a double band scabbard holder that wrapped around my calf in two places. The velcro made it easy to put on and take off.The fallowing year i used it in competition and boy, what a difference. Nothing worse then trying to hunt down your saw, while the time is ticking away...lol..Mark I'm sure you know what I mean.well , it seems as though somebody beat me to the puch on this little item, but thats ok;I'm just glad somebody capitalized on this idea and people are finding it usefull.

thanks

Greg Liu

it does droop a little but you can adjust it,its got several slots for the straps. The lock as I see it is a flexible strap that you can put around the handle so it cant fall out.
I have started taping the portion at the top just under the handsaw handle, that helps a little with the rope snags.

What do you mean by locking it in? I myself have not used it as of yet, but I am sure I will soon. By the way, this is an ausome web site and though I don't share alot, I've learned alot.
Thanks
