Mark, We had to complete the job in 1 weekend, since school was still in session. Some of these trees started shedding their limbs and they were over a parking lot and buildings, at the Medical building (the reason for removal). The sale rep thought two 75 ton cranes would be the best approach. Both cranes were busy til 6:30-7:00PM. We were not able to start until 9:00AM (weekend noise ordinance on campus). We started off the day with a safety meeting, including the 2 crane operators. We then had plans as to which climbers were working with which ground crew and set the crews up. The crane crews had 2 climbers and 3 groundsmen each. We had 5 chip trucks/chippers on the site. As soon as 1 truck was full, the spare truck would hook up, so production didn't come to a halt. The job was very well thought out by the sales staff and foreman. I think we had 20 field employees at the site. Two trees had to be done manually and the rest were crane accessible. We sub-contracted the log removal and disposal. This guy had a 950 Cat frontend loader with forks, and a tractor trailer combo for the logs.
