Ok, I saw these at an Orsheln's Farm Store on sale for $16 for 13" curved, $14 for 12" straight. At those prices, I had to give them a try. Bought one of each.
Now, I love my Silky Sugoi and have never regretted spending the money, but it can be a bit clumsy and big, at times. And, for removals, I like a shorter, straight blade saw mostly because I like to finish off the backcut with a handsaw. I'm not going to offend anyone's sensibilities by suggesting there's a saw in these pics that the Silky saws would be jealous of, but for the money, the Komelon saws are very nice. The blade and tooth design/cut are very close to the Silky saws. The saws are made in Korea.
I threw a Husqvarna 12" straight saw and a Walmart special Fiskars 12" straight blade for comparison. Husky saw's scabbard is a joke, the Fiskars saw I use for cutting roots and wouldn't take up a tree even if it did have a scabbard, which it doesn't. The scabbards for the Komelon saws is not as good as the Silky, but really not bad at all for something that was this cheap.
I love the Silky, like the Husky, and really like the Komelon saws. I can't even buy a Silky replacement blade for what I paid for the two saws ($30) so I think this is one of the better bargains I've found this year.
