Knee Ascender

Lol nope, just one footy:LOL:

I learned tree climbing by footlocking for access. So I guess I just had the muscle memory for the inchworm? I tried a haas when they first came out but it wasn't easy for me to dial in so I ditched it.

Being a minimalist I just thought it was excessive. That and the fact that most of the trees I do aren't that tall, I just thought it'd be more trouble than it was worth. Boy, was I wrong!

:cachetada::cachetada: There is minimalist and there is ……. It’s essential

When I was younger it wasn't that big of a deal, still isn't really as i rarely am ascending more than 20-30' in one go. But now that I'm a geezer I'll take every advantage, within reason.

Ropewalkers are soooo much more ergonomic, energy saving and speedy.

If its under 20', I might not use it, only one footie. For 10', I'll step a foot on the other foot that has the footie.
Not in my book Sean. My ascent system is so freakin dialed. I spend very little energy and my body loves it. Knee ascenders, once built properly and are the right length for stride rebound it is flawless on ascent. Been perfecting since 2012.

I find kneeascenders to be a nice quick setup. Plus having a handled ascender above a multiscender is annoying. Pros and cons. You can surely get a longer stride with a ropewalker but having to switch over to your climbing device is a deal breaker. Damn I am pretty quick with my setup, even for my age. Horses for coarses.

I'm a fan of rope walkers.

I generally wear a footie any time I'm spurless, adding a ropewalker for most ascents unless only a very short distance.

So, I was hoping the answer would become self evident, but what is the difference? I thought a knee ascender was paired with the foot ascender and multiscender into a system known as a 'ropewalker system'... what am I missing here?

Ropewalker generally was used just for ascent, switching over to MRS for working. Hand ascender with footloop and foot ascender. Can backup with prussic above hand ascender connected to bridge of harness for backup. Problem with this system was not having egress to ground in case of emergency. Though, a figure eight could solve this using the prussic.

Gotcha. It sounds like I am on team knee ascender with you then
