Kboom vs. All terrain Crane??

Let's not forget that OSHA could care less what you do with your equipment, now or in the future. It's when you have an employee that things get complicated. This is why my only employee has 4 legs and a tail. This will keep me small time, yes, but life is SO much simpler, works for me anyway in my crane biz.

I like the look of that Mack and 655.

The chart is pretty good too... i'd say mens sizing for sure

Oh and limb control are you speaking as a kboom owner operator ?

The remote control option is what $20k? And if 6t56 is right that this becomes outlawed by osha( we can thank him for initiating the discussion) If you cant make up the 20k in ten years time I do agree with him, you shouldnt order the remote. In fact, you shouldnt order a kboom at all.

SJ, Treeguy yes kboom(with remote) owner, see attach

Right my fault....unbelievable

The only reason OSHA has been nosing around New Jersey (and OSHA is just doing their job) is because there has been what about a dozen stick boom accidents there in the last year or two. None of these had anything to do with kbooms or remotes......and saying you couldn't operate from the tree would be like saying you couldn't operate your bucket truck or man lift from upper controls! And there have been HUNDREDS of accidents involving miss use of aerial lift/buckets! OK..... OFF TO TREE STUFF FOR THE CRANE WORKSHOP!!! See Ya!

I'm reading this thread and can't quite figure out the paranoia over OSHA.

So, here's the process for a standards development,

https://www.osha.gov/OCIS/stand_dev.html

OSHA isn't based on what ifs or maybes but on real incidents and accidents that led to deaths and injury.

1970 14,000 workers died in the US. 2011, 4,693 while the total number of workers has doubled over that time. Injuries have gone from 11/100 workers to 3.6.

Maybe some of you are the epitome of responsible employers but, there are way too many still out there that aren't. These are the people who seem to be willing to roll the dice with their employees lives.

If you want to get pissed, then get pissed at them not at the agency that is charged with the goal of seeing that we get home to our families in one piece.

End of rant....
