Kboom remote controls, self lifting.

Listen Xman if that were big talk I would let it end right here, but those jobs with the high numbers are usually no cleanup and like was said by timberbeast those were go up sling it come down trees, thats how the numbers get so high, a month ago we did a job where we blew all of the chips on the front yard (where the HO wanted) and the wood to go to a sawmill(5 minute turnaround from the site) and we took down and cleaned up 26 White pine, Suger maple and Basswood so don't tell me its impossible to pull off these high numbers.

You also have to understand that my dad went through the first blast of DED so he put down a Huge number of elms that the counties and power companies cleaned up.

For a further perspective on the straightboom/K boom thing, I flew across the state the other day to visit with the Idaho Manitex dealer, and got to run a 38 ton HL (10 K counterweight) boom truck. Real nice rig, as expected. He also has a Fassi K boom, and told me about going to Italy and visiting the factory, he said they make about EVERYTHING inhouse, like hoses, all castings, and other items you'd think they'd outsource. Average employee had worked there something like 25 years, he was just real impressed with their devotion to quality.
He too (with a very extensive straightboom background)was impressed with the capabilities of the K booms, showing me the remote he pointed out the speed/sensitivity control, what a great feature to be able to slow things down for super precise work. I believe he said the rig he had could pick 2500 lbs 80' out, and mounted as it was on a tandem chassis simialer to my 22 ton Manitex, it STILL had a payload (the truck bed) of 16,000 lbs. Where my rig can't put 2500 lbs out 80' and can't carry more then about 5000 lbs on the bed. It sure seems like the K booms are magic cranes, so much capability with little chassis weight, and that folding up thing is tooo much.

Just as a comparison to that my truck is good for 12000# payload(14 empty but I figure 2000#for slings and gear).
The rating at 80 ' is 1600#

Is that 80' fully extended?
