Like all new products there is a lot of initial enthusiasm followed inevitably by a backlash when a problem is found. I wash mine in the dishwasher once a week, it definitely does get a whole lot stinkier than a patzl but it is also. at least for me, way more comfortable than the petzl helmets, which I would always take off at the earliest opportunity. Comfort to me is way more important than smell.

OOO my god just buy a new insert already, and be done with the stink. Buy 5 and switch it out everyday, send them through the wash with your work clothes. You'll be mountain breezer smelling the rest of your time.
