It is 3/8 tenex-TEC. I think the strands might pick? I should have put a cover over it?

Can you get a slightly higher res pic of the splices? Might be able to provide some more valuable feedback if I could see the splice a little better.

For a friction saver, I'd say you can do without the webbing chafe guard in the eye. No harm in having it there, but it'd be a little more streamlined without it.
