just getting the hang of this...

Sean the limbs are rigged down with just a steel biner clipped back onto the two sewn slings that are girth hitched to it. On smaller limbs I give it a round turn. The other end of the slings are tied onto the end of the rigging line. After I take the top out I choke my climbing line around the stem.

I realize that you were experimenting with the video, not showcasing a particular rigginig technique, however it leaves me with the following wonders...

Can you please explain the benefit of using the 2 slings versus one (do you add a second biner to attach two limbs as needed??), and the purpose of the sling versus terminating the rope to the biner and clipping the rope (easierr to unclip off of a skinny sling??)?

Thanks.

This is a method I use only for this sort of thing, rigging small limbs, butt tied from an overhead rigging point. The biner isn't a locking one, just a small steel biner with a sort-of captive eye. I use spectra slings which are so thin there's no reason not to use a second one just as a backup. I stitch the individual slings together so there's only two pieces of fabric to clip and unclip. The biner must be orientated correctly or the gate will be pushed open. The slings are easier to work with and lie flatter to the limb than just the rope itself. It's not a system without some risks, but used correctly (small limbs, butt tied, overhead rigging point) it's fast and efficient and safe.
