I am off to the Jura region in France tomorrow. Some clients of mine have a Chateau there with lots of trees that have never been cared for professionally. I am trading a casual week of work for a weeks stay in their vacation rental cottage. We are staying for two more weeks to boot.
Tool kit consists of: rope , harness, handsaw, biners, boots split tails helmet.
They have a chainsaw- we'll see how well it works!
I haven't been to Europe for over twenty years. This time I go with my wife and two month old "adventure baby" son!
We will have the chance to travel within the region while there so if anyone has good beta on any tourist must see or do I am open. Bon Voyage!

That's really great. I traded 3 days of tree work for an 8 day mule deer hunt in Jackson hole. It was the outfitter I used to cook and guide for. Took down a bunch of trees at the guest ranch. Scored a nice 6x7 Muley on that trip.

I actually will be needing some help next year. Giant redwood on the property that I wasn't comfortable tackling solo as well as I needed more gear. I found the French people to be lovely. I'm sure in more touristy areas they are a little snooty towards Americans. The Jura people still remember us as liberators from the Nazis who's machine gun fire still pocks their homes. I am going to try next year to assemble a crew of WESLAAC arborists to go and work on some more trees at the Chateau.
