Jacket for Tenex Ring & Ring

I'm fixing to replace all my doublebraid ring and rings with 1/2 inch tenex covered with tubular nylon chafe sleeves. What I want to do is splice it much the same way we'd do a beeline, splice the core and whip stitch the "jacket" in place.

Only real question I have is whether or not covering the load bearing "core" with the "jacket" will be of significant concern from a use and inspection perspective.

Thoughts?

Sounds like a perfectly sound idea. We have all seen Tenex's wear and tear in heavy duty rigging applications and it holds up well, so I feel that putting a jacket on it will protect the Tenex from being picked which is its only weakness and its 100% polyester which is not self abrading. Plus, after a prescribed amount of time, say every three months or every 15 climbs, you could simply cut the covers' stitching on one end, slide it towards the other end, inspect, smooth the cover back, and re stitch. I might make a few too.

I don't think I'd use this in an adjustable ring and ring configuration, however. IDK maybe Ill make one and do some low and slow testing...
