Isa exam

Hey I'm taking the ISA exam on Thursday and was wondering if anyone could share some tips or advice, I have studied all of the ten interactive arborist discs twice and the study guide multiple times Over the past 6 months and was also wondering if the isa exam test questions were like the ones on the interactive ceu discs, any advice or help would be much appreciated. Thank you

The best advice is don't overthink things, go with your gut. If you've put the study time in you know the material and will pass with flying colours.

No offence but if you have little experience it's hard. Study every day till Thursday. I had four years experience, no school, barely passed two domains.

You should be aware that the questions will be very similar to the ones you've been studying on the discs and in the study guide. I think they're similar but not the same. I've heard it explained that the questions on the exam are worded in a way that makes them a bit more tricky to understand. Also, the questions from each domain will not be segregated. They'll be mixed up with one another. That sounds like a "duh" statement. But, it can throw some people off after they've been studying chapter-by-chapter for a long period of time.

Having said all that, I strongly second Boomslang's sentiment. If you've studied like you say you have, I'm betting you'll be fine. It's not a super difficult exam for people who study thoroughly and who "test well". Good luck!

Congrats! Passing's passing and that's what counts. Now you can get down to learning without the pressure of being tested and I find that much easier.

Thank you and your right it's so stressful studying for the test now I can brush up on the domains I didn't do as well on and learn more stuff. There is always something to learn

Would anybody have confidence in a surgeon who botches one of five surgeries?
Congrats nonetheless for successfully implanting into the ISA mothership.

Tests in medical school can be passed with an 81, and produce dependable surgeons. The connection with ISA gets most productive when it flexes, and you see that their generalizations are not always true. "Education begins when you doubt something." A. Shigo.

Studying trees is a lot more fun when there's no test looming. Enjoy!

George Armstrong Custer graduated last in his class at West Point.
But he still graduated, which is commendable.

We can cherry pick superstars and duds from any profession and any accreditation program. Nothing and nobody is perfect. There are plenty of people who can ace an exam but be a disaster in the field when it comes to applying that knowledge. But, at the end of the day, we as a profession look a whole lot better when we have an organizing body that's making an attempt to benchmark the industry.

We're still in our infancy relative to many others and it's going to take some time to get to the point where the accreditation is the penultimate instead of the entry point.

Congrats on your success!
